Found this place from
the monthly magazine that the RC send out. I always read their food
recommendations. Yes, I am auntie like that.
Cheng’s is a family
owned restaurant specializing in Hainanese food. I follow up the magazine
review from Cheng’s with ieatishootipost blog post on the restaurant. The food
review seems promising!
The menu is simple and
straight forward. The post on ieatishootipost covers like majority of food on
the menu.
On this visit, we
ordered the salted green mustard duck soup, crispy chicken with ginger and
sambal French beans.
The salted green
mustard duck soup is delicious but a tad too salty. After the meal, I had to
keep drinking plenty of water but yet still feel quite thirsty. I am amazed
that the duck meat in the soup is super tender and still juicy to eat after
being boiled in the soup.
The crispy chicken
with ginger is really good. I like the thin ginger slices and the chicken
breast that actually tasted like pork. A quick blanch of oil with the slightly
sour sauce made this an outstanding dish that goes well with rice.
The sambal French
beans is light in its flavor with being overly spicy. The vegetables are very
fresh and crunchy.
This is also a place I
will recommend for simple Chinese lunch and/or dinner.
